Phillip Morris Indonesia,Sampoerna invest US$174 million to improve production Phillips Morris Indonesia (PMID) and its affiliate, Sampoerna, say that they will invest US$174 million to improve production capacities in their two factories in Karawang, West Java. “We have invested more than $390 million in Karawang since 2006 [...] PMID and Sampoerna are committed to long-term business in Indonesia,” Sampoerna President Director Paul Janelle said in an official release on Wednesday. In 2012, PMID and Sampoerna exported around $24 million in tobacco and they expect to double the amount in 2013 following their production capacity increases. Janelle said that Indonesia would be the center of the Marlboro brand production to cater demands in the Asia-Pacific region. ![]()
