State-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina is studying the possibility of constructing two refrigerated liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) terminals with a combined capacity of 160,000 metric tons worth US$600 million, the Antara news agency quoted the firm’s commercial director as saying.

Pertamina`s Marketing and Commercial Director Achmad Faisal said here on Sunday that the LPG terminals will be built to increase the reliability of Pertamina`s LPG infrastructure.

He said that the LPG terminals were planned to be built in Tanjung Sekong, Merak, and in Makassar in South Sulawesi.

"We are now drawing the construction plan and hope that the study would be completed at the end of this year," Faisal said.

He said that if the two terminals could be built simultaneously in 2010, Pertamina hoped they would become operational in the next 4 to five years in 2014 or 2015.
"Each of the terminals is designed with a capacity of 80,000 metric tons and an investment of US$300 million," he said.
