Indonesia to announce winners for oil and gas block next week
Indonesia will next week announce the winners of the second round of oil and gas development contract offers held last year, Dow Jones reported, quoting the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources.
The ministry said on its Web site that the successful bidders for production contracts will be announced during the Indonesian Petroleum Association conference, to be held in Jakarta May 2-5.
The statement cited Edy Hermantoro, the ministry's director general for upstream business management, as saying that discussions are in the final stage between the government and parties that bid for 15 oil and gas blocks through joint study processes, while bids made by contractors through a normal tender process for a further 16 blocks are "in the evaluation process." Hermantoro didn't clarify further.
It said the government in 2008 signed 34 deals with contractors to develop oil and gas blocks, and plans to sign 50 more such deals this year, as well as 14 deals to develop coal bed methane deposits.
