Swarup Roy is the Founder and Chairman of ASEAN AFFAIRS, the first and only global publication of Southeast Asia and Save Our Planet conference series. Born in 1969 in India, Roy was the president of Business Day (2002 to 2006), Thailand’s only English language daily business newspaper. He has more than18 years of corporate, management and entrepreneurial experience. He started his management career in 1993 at the age of 22 and worked with some of the leading companies in India for the next eight years rising to middle management by the age of 27.

In 2000 he almost lost his life in a near fatal accident. It took five years and five surgeries for him to start walking normally again. But during that period (2000-2004), he left India for Thailand on a crutch, ran a daily newspaper as President, started his own company (2004) and launched his global publication, Asean Affairs (2006). He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and an MBA (Gold Medalist) from Chennai University, India. His company TIME INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT ENTERPRISES CO. LTD., is based in Bangkok (Thailand) and India and is in the business of publishing, media and technology. Asean Affairs is available in 35 countries in the world.


President, AseanAffairs Business Council (AABC), is Chairman of the Malaysian Institute of Management and Chairperson of the Business Advisory Council to the UN ESCAP Asia-Pacific Business Forum.He is also Co-Founder of the Farlim Group, a leading property development company listed on the Malaysian Stock Exchange that is building the US$2.5 billion Asean Eco-City project in Shandong province, China.

Dato’ Mohamed Iqbal Rawther is an educator, banker and thinker.

He obtained a certificate in education from the University of Birmingham in 1964. Subsequently, he obtained his bachelor of economics (Honours) and master’s degree in business administration in 1971 and 1973 respectively, both from the University of Malaya.

He then furthered his studies and obtained the International Management Teacher’s Programme certificate from the joint program organized by the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and the Centre D’ Enseignment Superior Des Affairs, Paris, France, in 1978. In 1993, he received a doctorate in management from La Salle University, Philadelphia, Pa., USA.

In 1971, he joined Malaysian International Merchant Bank Berhad as Corporate Finance Officer, where he pioneered leasing. In 1976 he received the Sir Frederick Gallahan Memorial Award from the Australian-Malaysian Association of Australia recognizing his entrepreneurial management in Malaysia.

When Bank Negara Malaysia set up the Institute of Bankers in 1979, he was appointed Executive Director. He relinquished that position in 1985 and has since been involved in the private sector, including his current commitments to Farlim Group (Malaysia) Bhd.

Dr. Supachai Tantikom has more than 25 years of experience in project development from feasibility studies, planning, conceptual design, detailed design, project management to construction management of both high-rise and low-rise buildings of residential complexes, hotels, retail establishments, schools, hospitals, and factories. He also has expertise in civil infrastructure planning and design.


Honorary Chairwoman of AseanAffairs

She is the Great Great Granddaughter of His Majesty, King Rama IV of Thailand. She is a well-known and highly respected philanthropist, business woman in Thailand and around the world. She is the Honorary Chairwoman of ASEANAFFAIRS. She also owns Harrow International School, Thailand with plans to open in India and other countries, Royal Security Service 1998 Co Ltd, Hyde Park – a high end property company and is on the Board of many companies and organizations.

David Swartzentruber has been a journalist and editor in the United States and Thailand. He started his career with the American Broadcasting Company, New York, and in Thailand was senior web writer for the Bangkok Post and an editor for UCANEWS. He is currently managing editor of AseanAffairs web site and magazine. He has a bachelor’s degree in foreign service from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Washington, D.C., and a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology.
