Networking Giant unites in Thailand
11 July 2011
Four hundred business persons came together on Friday, July 8, at the Crystal Design Centre, Bangkok, to do what they do best, networking at the BNI Thailand National Conference. They not only walked away with potential new contacts, referrals and new business but they heard expert advise on Asia’s economic trends in the coming year and how they should be prepared for the coming of the Asean Economic Community in 2015.
International delegates from Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Sweden, UK and Vietnam were among the participants. Members fed back that this was the best National Conference yet.
Mr. Kollakit Thalerngnawachart, National director of BNI Thailand, called upon his friend and partner YP Lai, Co-National Director BNI Thailand and National Director BNI Vietnam and Korea, to open the conference by ringing a giant bell to mark the opening of the ceremony.
Mr. Kollakit stated that the BNI Thailand National Conference is a great opportunity to increase your business in one day and that anyone who would have the opportunity to attend next year should not miss it. Next year’s conference, around the 19th and 20th of September, will involve Dr. Ivan Misner, Founder and Chairman of BNI.
Keynote speakers enlightened the audience about what they should expect in the coming business year. These unrivaled entrepreneurs shared the experiences that brought their business to such unbelievable heights.
Speakers included: Mr. Suphat Saquandeekul, Executive Director Bureau of ASEAN Economic Community Affairs, Department of Trade Negotiations, Benjarong Sawankiri PH.D, Vice President, Macroprudential & Research Department, TMB Bank, Mr. Swarup Roy, Founder of ASEAN Affairs, Mr. Yeap Swee Chuan, President and CEO of AAPICO Hitech Public Company, Mr. Dato Mohamed Iqbal Rawther, Chairman of MIM, Vice President of the ASEAN Business Forum, Malaysia as well as Group Executive Director, Farlim Group, Mr. Yotsan Srisuchat, Assistant Vice President of Tarad Dot Com and Miss Wanatsanant Kanokpattanangkoon, restaurant developer and owner of Kinaree Restaurant. In the words of Mr. Benjarong, “Never before have I seen such active business networking and matching done anywhere else. I can only imagine the vast opportunities available to them to meet new friends, colleagues, or even business partners.”
Throughout the day, attendees visited the trade show booths of various businesses from various industries. There were samples from doorknobs to hair color home kits to traditional Thai food tastings. Attendees were able to gain knowledge and information about these businesses. BNI members are used to hearing about their peers’ businesses so that they are better able to act as an additional sales person.
The speakers and directors were interviewed by media as the group reassembled inside the ballroom to resume the afternoon’s networking activity. Attendees split into groups divided by industry, and they got to briefly introduce their businesses.
This was followed by a business matching session, involving Major, Homepro, Honda, CDC and International Group. The masters of ceremonies announced what each company was looking for, so that businesses that fit the bill could present their case to potential buyers.
This made easier the jobs of the companies because they were able to meet with quality suppliers. Meanwhile attendees were happy because they had the opportunity to meet with companies they usually would not meet. Hence, a phenomenal business matching session occurred right there at the BNI Thailand National Conference.
Those who participated felt a sense of achievement as the BNI Thailand National Conference drew to a close.
