 Corporate Websites and Social Media – New Ways 

Social Networks demonstrate that people enjoy communicating and sharing information with each other. Never before did we communicate that frequent and with mobility never thought possible. New social interaction patterns evolve and looking at my kids, I sometimes think that future meetings will be a lot less personal and direct than in our generation.

This revolution in personal interaction and in communication technologies provides a great opportunity for all of us. Not only to interact with our friends and loved ones, but also to market our products and services efficiently and targeted at the right audience, of whom we know that they are interested in what we are doing.

I learned recently at a human resources conference, that in most of the western economies, organizations successfully use these social platforms to find new employees through online referrals and by getting to know their employees-to-be through their internet activity in blogs, on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and the like.

Furthermore, these organizations use social media sites to document their expertise and strengthen their “trusted advisor” status in many industries and market segments.

In Asean, however, social networks, such as High-Five, Facebook and Twitter seem to be more used by individuals, especially teenagers and are widely disregarded by the business segment.
