US stocks rose Overnight as investors were relieved by the Federal Reserve’s statement that it still plans to keep interest rates near zero for an “extended period. This will lift ASEAN markets with the exception of Thailand which is now suffering an outflow of foriegn funds.  more

Stocks tumbled around the world as credit-rating downgrades of Greece and Portugal fueled concern debt-laden nations are moving closer to default. Goldman Sachs hearing before Senators began in Washington. This will bring a lot of selling pressure in the morning session in ASEAn but by the afternoon session we may see much of the losses recovered.  more

After a strong week ASEAN Markets should consolidate today with the exception of Thailand that will come under continued selling pressure. Over night the USA traded flat after posting early gains and that momentum will spill over into ASEAN Markets today.   more

Optimism spurred by improved earnings pushed ASEAN markets higher on Thursday, even Thailand finished higher after a volatile session as investors bought banks and electronics firms despite political uncertainty. That may reverse today after a bomb attack in the Silom Financial district left 3 dead and 75 injured overnight. more

Over night in the USA the Dow Jones industrial average shed 20.55 points, or 0.18 percent, to 11,096.51. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index .SPX dipped 4.72 points, or 0.39 percent, to 1,202.45. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 1.86 points, or 0.07 percent, to 2,498.45.  more

The MSCI index of Asian shares outside Japan rose 0.58 percent to their highest level since June 2008 while the MSCI index of global stocks.

The MSCI Asia Pacific Index gained 0.7 percent to 128.30 as of 7:48 p.m. in Tokyo. The gauge has climbed 12 percent from this year’s low on Feb. 8, as improving economic data boosted the outlook for the global economy and concern over European budget deficits eased. Stocks in the index trade at 16.4 times estimated earnings, compared with 15 times for the MSCI World Index of 23 developed nations.

Asian stock markets mostly fell Tuesday as investors followed Wall Streets lead.Aluminum maker Alcoa reported first quarter sales below analysts’ expectations Monday after stock trading closed. Investors will be eyeing earnings results this week from Intel, Google, General Electric, Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase.

ASEAN Stocks will open flat today and may drift lower in the afternoon.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index moved down 28.76 points, or 3.64 percent, to close at 760.90 points on Monday. Some 3.61 billion shares worth 35.21 billion baht (about 1.10 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands. Political issues will see the market move upto 20% lower.
