Asean SG welcomes Denmark Ambassador


Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Mr Le Luong Minh,  welcomed the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Indonesia,  H.E. Mr. Martin Hermann, expressing appreciation to him and the Government of Denmark for the commitment in moving forward cooperation between ASEAN and Denmark. Ambassador Hermann met SG Minh, today at the ASEAN Secretariat to present his Letter of Credentials.

Ambassador Hermann thanked the Secretary-General of ASEAN for receiving him and the Letter of Credentials, and reiterated that Denmark remains committed to work with ASEAN. He expressed a profound interest to focus on areas of human rights and maritime security issues. Ambassador Herman also sought the Secretary-General’s availability for meetings with Danish Minister of Trade and Investment and with Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, SG Minh and the Ambassador also exchanged views on regional and international economic and political-security issues.

It is commonplace in journalism to write two types of articles at the transition point between the year that has passed and the New Year. As this writer qualifies as an “old hand” in observing Thailand with a track record dating back 14 years, it is time take a shot at what may unfold in Thailand in 2011.

The first issue that can’t be answered is the health of Thailand’s beloved King Bhumibol, who is now 83 years old. He is the world's longest reigning monarch, but elaborate birthday celebrations in December failed to mask concern over his health. More
