ASEAN and ROK Prepare for Commemorative Summit in Busan

The Secretary-General of the Preparatory Office for the 2014 ASEAN-Republic of Korea (ROK) Commemorative Summit, HE. Choi Jong-moon, called on Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Le Luong Minh, on 18 July 2014.

Secretary-General Choi informed SG Minh about the preparation for the commemorative summit which is scheduled to be held on 11-12 December 2014 in Busan, the ROK. He reiterated the commitment of the Government of the ROK to making the commemorative summit a substantive and festive event and a great success to elevate the ASEAN-ROK relations to new heights.

SG Minh attached great importance to the commemorative summit which provides a good opportunity for both sides to review the ASEAN-ROK relations and map out its future direction in the next 25 years. He stressed the need to ensure the substantive and fruitful outcomes of the summit by starting as soon as possible to prepare the outcome documents to be adopted by the Leaders. He reiterated the ASEAN Secretariat’s readiness to work closely with ASEAN Member States and the ROK in this regard.
