ASEAN KEY DESTINATIONS
Asean needs to connect with the world, says Cambodian prince
"We are now in a critical juncture in more than four decades of Asean history," he told a regional editors forum, noting that diversification, inclusiveness and openness were the key principles of Asean regionalism.
"When we talk about inclusive growth, we need to focus also on inclusive politics and security connectivity. My interest is your interest, and your interest is mine. My security is your security, and your security is mine.
That should be the spirit and nature of international relations in the interconnected and fast changing 21st century," he said.
The prince also said that good governance and reform "need to be seriously implemented at both national and regional levels to promote accountability, transparency, and people’s participation".
"National and regional institutions need to be much further strengthened with integration of the principles of inclusive and green growth, democracy and human rights," he said.
