Arrivals to Singapore fall 9.7% in November

Singapore's visitor arrivals dropped 9.7 percent in November compared with the same period last year, as a worsening global economic climate crimped demand for travel, Reuters quoted the country's tourism agency as saying Friday.

The Singapore Tourism Board said visitor arrivals fell to 760,000 in November from 841,648 visitors last year. The total time spent in Singapore rose 0.1 percent compared to last year, to an estimated 3.1 million visitor-days.

Singapore had 844,000 visitors in October.

Hotel room revenues also fell 6 percent compared with a year earlier, reaching S$161 million.

Singapore has reported year-on-year declines in visitor arrivals since June this year.
