The Indian Achievers Forum held an International Achievers Summit on "Emerging India: Promoting Partnership Globally" on September 20, 2008 in the Convention Hall of Hotel Royal Benja in Bangkok, Thailand. More than 200 of delegates from various fields participated in this summit. This summit aims to provide international knowledge exchange forum by highlighting the achievements of some prominent achievers of India and their valuable contribution towards the development of society and nation as a whole.
During this summit, few co-operative banks, individuals and organisations from all over India in selected fields and NRI’s were presented with awards for their achievements and contributions towards the progress and economic development of their nation.
Among those who were conferred with International Achiever’s Award include Mr. M. H. Morabia, Chairman, The Bhuj Co-op Bank Ltd., Mr. KVSS Sairam, MD, Prathistha Industries Ltd., Mr. K. Subashchander, Kulwinder Sandhu, The Tribune, the country’s premier newspaper. According to a spokesman of the forum all the participants learned from one another amongst the world-class leaders and showcased their successes in building India into a strong nation in the world.
During the Summit, the introductory keynote address was presented by Abhijit Dutta Vice-President of the Hindustan Times group. During the business session, P Dalgado former CGM of the Reserve Bank of India addressed the delegates and gave a presentation on banking reforms. There was also one to one interaction of the delegates, presentations of delegations from Spain and Japan, a speech by Jagdish Mehta Vice President of NAFCUB, presentation by Sandip Kochar a celebrity astrologer and a speech by D Bakshi Executive Director of Indo-Thai Chamber of Commerce and S. Roy Founder & CEO of International publication ASEANAFFAIRS and TIME INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT ENTERPRISES CO LTD. During the award ceremony, the awards to the achievers were presented by Latha Reddy Ambassador of India in Thailand while Sunil Talati former President of the Institute of Charted Accountants’ of India, Subash Bajaj President of the Indo-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Sunil Shashtri President of the Lal Bahadur Shashtri Foundation of India addressed the august gathering. The Awards put the spotlight on real examples of what has been accomplished, the obstacles encountered and the lessons learned. Moreover, these effective partnerships has helped to reveal where further efforts should be concentrated. The spirit of the Awards is the recognition and revelation of leading innovative approaches to advance sustainable development and set an example for others.
The Awards also focused on effective multi-stakeholder partnerships that have clearly led to demonstrated results in achieving sustainable development. In this context, partnership should be interpreted as formal or informal cooperative programmes between business organisations and any combination of public and private sector institutions, government and non-governmental organisations, labour, research, development, community and charitable agencies, etc.
